On May 15, 2025, a powerful act of collaboration brought the mission of inclusive education and digital empowerment one step closer to reality. GCash, the Philippines’ leading fintech platform, reaffirmed its commitment to “Tech for Good” by donating 100 laptops to support
ConnectED—a flagship initiative under the Her Legacy Project focused on bridging the digital divide in underserved communities.
Held at the GCash Amphitheatre in Bonifacio Global City, the Laptop Turnover Ceremony marked a major milestone in the growing partnership between GCash and the Her Legacy Project. This donation will directly support students in marginalized areas, equipping them with the technology needed to access quality education and pursue opportunities in an increasingly digital world.
ConnectED—a program of Her Legacy—is dedicated to delivering laptops and digital tools to learners in geographically isolated, disadvantaged, and remote (GIDAR) communities, including public high schools and local learning centers. While Her Legacy is widely known for championing women in STEM, ConnectED is inclusive by design: supporting both young women and other students in need of access, regardless of gender, to close the digital learning gap.
The event gathered key figures from both organizations whose leadership is driving this impact forward:
From GCash
● Winsley Bangit - Head, New Business & Wealth Management
● Pebbles Sy - Chief Technology Officer
● Robert Gonzales - Chief People Officer
From Her Legacy Project and Her Project Foundation Inc.:
● Karen Davila, Founder
● Tootsy Angara, Board Member
● Darlyn Ty Nilo, Strategic Program Officer
Throughout the ceremony, speakers emphasized not only the significance of the donation but the longer-term vision behind it: shared efforts to identify public schools in critical need, collaborate on future deployments, and explore additional avenues of support for Filipino learners, especially in the field of technology.
Looking ahead, the partnership will continue to evolve—building on shared values of education, sustainability, and empowerme. This is more than a tech handover—it’s an investment in potential. Together, GCash and Her Legacy are opening doors for Filipino youth, one laptop at a
time.
